About us
Southern Social Work and Counselling Services was established in 2022 by Rachel Allan.

The intention for the organisation was to always align with true inclusive values, trauma informed awareness and care and focus on providing the best support possible, within the boundaries of the NDIS.

We are lived experience practitioners and honour this in the work we do, when we work with individuals and families.

Where needed we provide out of the box therapeutic supports, supporting with problem solving, looking at an individual's life and experiences in a truly holistic way.

Our aim is to remove the power imbalance that is often felt and provide meaningful and transparent services and supports.
We will work alongside you and those in your life, and your NDIS team with a team approach.

We provide trauma aware, individual led and collaborative social work, counselling and complete functional capacity assessment reports and other assessments for NDIS participants.

Our aim overall is to support an individual with an ethical and values-based mindset, working to the NDIS code of conduct and providing services that support with participant choice and control.
Vision, Mission and Focus
The SSWCS vision is to see every individual in the community supported to enhance their quality of life, feel empowered to meet their needs and feel valued.

SSWCS's mission is to achieve a vision through evidence-based practice by having a high level of communication with participants and families to provide a person-centred service to every individual who is a client within the service.

To support all individuals and/or families with their emotional and social needs while building skills and capacity with social work and counselling services, connecting or referring them to services where necessary and providing advocacy where an individual requests communication support.
Values
Communication
A high level of communication with participants, families, other external stakeholders, professionals, and therapeutic services or supports.
Person-centred
Individual-led service focuses on the person’s strengths and what they can do, not their medical condition or disability.
Empowerment
Empowering individuals to have the life that works for them to achieve their own goals and have quality of life.
Building Capacity
Supporting individuals to develop the skills and knowledge to support themselves and lead change in their lives effectively.
Connection
To connect individuals with services, supports, organisations, other professionals and therapeutic networks they choose.
Advocacy
To support individuals by making sure their voice is heard when communicating with services, supports, organisations, other professionals, and therapeutic networks.
Willingness To Learn
To be curious and continuously have the willingness to learn
Southern Social Work & Counselling Services is committed to advocacy, capacity building, connection, empowerment, effective communication, and a person-centred approach.
These values guide all subcontractor behaviours and interactions. They are a guide for all of us as SSWCS workers when working with participants and their families in their homes, interacting and networking with other stakeholders within a participant’s team, accompanying in meetings or participating in online case conferences.

About
Rachel Allan
Owner of SSWCS, Social Worker & Counsellor
Functional Capacity Assessment Reports & other assessments
Hello! I am Rachel. I have lived experience and I am a carer myself. I do not play an expert of any means; I utilise my skillset, but I am human as are you.
I am humble in nature with the work I do, and how I work with an individual and/or family on where they are at and working at their pace.

My approach in everything I do is to provide individual focused services. I know there is a lot of that wording thrown around these days around person-centred support and service, however I really do work towards providing that kind of support and service to an individual and/or their family.

I am someone who is inspired by everyone I work with. I am extremely passionate about supporting where I can for someone in their life.

I do spend a lot of time focusing on my business and always planning how I can connect in with the community. On weekends, I spend a lot of time chilling out with my family and our cats. I love art, music and when I can I go to community events.

About
Corey Challis
Social Worker & Counsellor
Functional Capacity Assessment Reports & other assessments
My name is Corey and I’m a social worker who is passionately working in areas of disability and mental health.
I have been around disability from a very young age and have learnt the inequalities and barriers that I strive to challenge.
I believe in meeting people halfway, in the comfort of their own environment.

I have a gentle approach that I believe works well with young people and adults alike.
From both lived experience and throughout my early professional journey, I put human rights and peoples’ strengths at the core of my practice.
Some things I enjoy: photography, gaming, reading books and exploring different sensory inputs!
